Archaeologist

Daniel Scheiner, B.A., has over 18 years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), with a diverse background spanning military, agricultural, and archaeological applications. He holds a B.A. in Anthropology and is currently pursuing his master’s degree at Georgia Southern University, where his research focuses on LiDAR prospection in low-lying wetlands along the Savannah River.

Before transitioning to archaeology, Mr. Scheiner specialized in multispectral analysis of agricultural land using unmanned aerial systems. He is an FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot. He also served as a Geospatial Metadata Analyst with the U.S. Army, where he developed advanced geospatial solutions to support operational planning.

In his role with TerraX, Mr. Scheiner utilizes ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro to support archaeological survey efforts. His responsibilities include the analysis of satellite and aerial-acquired LiDAR data, the creation of pre-survey maps based on client data and predictive modeling, and the generation of post-survey report maps using field crew data. Mr. Scheiner brings a strong technical skillset and interdisciplinary perspective to archaeological GIS applications, with particular interest in remote sensing technologies.
