Prior to working at TerraX, Kristen Stone spent 5 years in the United States Marine Corps. After she completed her active duty time at New River Air Station in Jacksonville North Carolina, Ms. Stone relocated to the Charlotte area, where she attended University of North Carolina at Charlotte and received her B.A. in Anthropology. During her time at UNCC, Ms. Stone completed two field schools. Her first experience, in 2022 under the direction of Dr. Alan May, took place at the Holly Bend Plantation, where she broke ground on her very first excavation unit. The next summer, in 2023, she traveled to Oregon to participate in a public archaeology field school hosted by the National Park Service, Portland State University, and Washington State University at Vancouver at the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park and Cannon Beach.

Ms. Stone started at TerraX as a Field Technician in August of 2023. Since then, she has become a Crew Chief and Technical Writer. As a Crew Chief, Ms. Stone is responsible for leading a field crew and conducting archaeological surveys. Between field work, Ms. Stone writes and performs background research for TerraX’s various projects.
