Our cemetery studies team is extremely qualified in detection, location, and investigation of both marked and unmarked cemeteries and graves. As such, we are fully aware of and prepared for the possibility that cemetery removal may be necessary during a given project. When available, descendant collaboration is considered a necessary portion of cemetery studies. Our dedicated staff has conducted numerous projects including, but not limited to, non-invasive ground-truthing techniques, geophysical surveys, mechanical stripping, historic resources cemetery surveys, consulting with Human Remains Detection (HRD) Dogs, genealogical research, exhumation and re-interment, osteological analysis, and partnering with experts in DNA testing and genetic non-destructive techniques. TerraX is extremely qualified to handle the detection and appropriate removal and relocation of graves with sensitivity and respect.
Dedicated Staff
The TerraXplorations staff includes highly trained and experienced bioarchaeologists and archaeologists. We take pride in our staff being well-versed in both bioarchaeology and Southeastern archaeology. Additionally, each of our cemetery studies team members is acclimated with the procedures and regulations related to cemetery identification, investigation, and relocation as well as identification of human and faunal remains, burial shaft identification, burial removal techniques and handling, and the use of burial context(s) to infer social indicators. Our team is experienced in associated osteological methods including techniques used to estimate age, sex, ancestry, stature, pathology, trauma, and taphonomy. TerraX is happy to serve our clients in all aspects of cemetery detection, delineation, ground-truthing, relocation, and reporting.
